Program Overview

Reformers Unanimous Schools of Discipleship - Rockford, Illinois - Christian Addiction Residential Treatment Program

Every part of the Reformers Unanimous Schools of Discipleship - Rockford, Illinois - Christian Addiction Residential Treatment Programis in place to promote the growth of individual from baby Christians to victorious overcoming Christians. John Maxwell said, “If we're growing, we're always going to be out of our comfort zone,” the jam packed schedule at the Schools of Discipleship can be a bit uncomfortable. We believe however that God sent the Comforter to empower growth only when we leave our comfort zone. Just like in nature, adversity proceeds great growth in the Christian life. It is our belief that while each of the core elements of our program will provide adversity they will be the catalysts for exciting growth opportunities in our Christian lives.

The Quiet Time

The first, and most important part of everyday is spent in prayer and study of God's word the Bible. Students are taught how to use the "It's Personal" Daily Journal to develop a dynamic, love relationship with Jesus Christ. The journal shows students how to allow the Holy Spirit to guide us into all truth, how to pray according to God's will, how to meditate upon scripture, and to encourage others.

The morning devotions are foundational to our program. If all a student learns while here is to walk with God then that student has gained a treasure of inestimable value, and victory is sure. This isn't "devotions," it's real, it's personal, it's life changing, it's a genuine walk with God.

The Work Program

Proverbs 14:23 says, "in all labor there is profit" at Reformers Unanimous we believe work is God's divine design for every man, and woman. Hard work develops character which is vital to making right decisions once you have finished with the discipleship program.

All students in the Discipleship Schools are required to maintain employment in the ministry, or outside employers depending on particular job skills. These jobs enable students to learn, working "as unto the Lord," obeying authority, and walking in the Spirit in various environments.

Chapel

One of the favorite times in the home is the daily chapels. This is a time to hear a warm Bible message, and be encouraged in your spiritual walk. Speakers are those who understand what the Bible says about overcoming addiction, and living the victorious Christian life.

Friday Night Class

Every Friday night students attend the Rockford Reformers Unanimous Addictions Class. Each class is divided into three sessions. The first session involves hearing a Biblical challenge from RU's founder, Steve Curington. This time is followed by a group prayer meeting and sharing testimonies.

The second session is a time men and women meet separately in smaller groups and discuss the overcoming addictions in their own lives. It is a time of letting each person share what is on his own heart in seeking to live a victorious Christian life. There is a detailed curriculum for each member to follow. In the last session everyone comes together to listen to a challenge from God's Word. Afterwards, there is a time of fellowship and refreshments.

Church

Reformers Unanimous's goal is to direct the intemperate (undisciplined) believer and the unregenerate to God's intended support group-the local church. As such all students attend all services at North Love.

God designed the local church to be a support group for hurting people, whether they are in need of salvation, restoration, or growing in the Christian faith. This support group gives these individuals godly counsel, encouragement, and challenges to overcome the strongholds in their lives. We believe that continued Church attendance is a key catalyst to continuing victory.

The Curriculum

What helps those who come overcome their addictions and sinful habits is the curriculum. God's Word is powerful! And learning, studying, and applying God's Word will no doubt change your life.

All the students must complete the entire Strongholds Discipleship Course during the course of the program

Prayer Groups

We believe there is incredible power when meet together and pray. if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven.  For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them."

Because of this we have small prayer groups of around 5 where brother, and sisters can lift up one another in prayer. There is great victory when we take our eyes off of ourselves and place them upon the needs of others.

Biblical Counseling

While we believe that the majority of one's counsel can be obtained from the Biblical preaching in the local church. There is still safety in a multitude of counselors, and so we offer frequent opportunities for one on one counseling.

Biblical counseling is a unique form of Christian discipleship, that brings believers to maturity in the lifelong process of sanctification- of growing to maturity in Christ.

Bible College

All students have the privilege of attending at least on class a week at the North Love Bible College. The college classes give students an opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of God's word, and Bible doctrine.

The Bible college also prepares students for greater usefulness to their local church when they return home.
